Alhaji Hassan holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from the University of Lagos (1982) and an MBA in the same discipline from the University of Ilorin in 1988. He is also an Associate Member, Chartered Institute of Management, Nigeria.
He started his working career in 1983 as a Lecturer in Kwara State Polytechnic. He later moved to the defunct Nigerian Merchant Bank Plc. Lagos in 1989 where he rose through the ranks to the post of Deputy Manager in 1991. Between 1994 and 1995 he had a brief stint with Gatehouse Mortgage Finance Limited (Mortgage Bankers) as a Deputy General Manager.
In 1996 he joined Duha Ventures Limited, a Financial Management Consultants Firm, as a General Manager. In 2001, Mr. Hassan joined the Societe Generale Bank Limited as Manager and Special Assistant to the Executive Vice Chairman until he disengaged in 2003.
He was appointed as the Special Assistant (Domestic Affairs) to the Executive Governor of Kwara State between 2003-2005. In 2007, he was elevated to the position of Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor until 2009 when he was appointed Commissioner of Health, Kwara State, a position he occupied until the expiration of the tenure of the administration in May 2011.
