HRH (Prof) Halidu Ibrahim Abubakar, Emir of Ilesa-Baruba, is the Chairman, Board of Directors, Harmony Holdings Ltd. He holds B.Sc. (Hons) Economics from the University of Ibadan (1974) and Postgraduate Diploma in Development Economics from the University of Ife, (now OAU), Ile-Ife, in 1977. He obtained MPA (Policy and Management), from Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA in June 1981 and a Ph.D. (Economics), at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in September, 1985.
He started his working career with the Kwara State Government in 1975 as a Planning Officer in the Ministry of Economic Development and left in 1978 to start a meritorious academic career. He joined Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria as an Assistant Lecturer. Between 1978 and 1992 he moved from the position of Lecturer to Senior Lecturer and then Reader. He became a Professor of Public Finance in 1992 and has remained in that top position to date. He was a Fellow of Edward S. Mason in Policy and Management in Developing Countries (1980-1981), Harvard: Visiting Research Fellow Development Administration Group, School of Public Policy, University of Birmingham, UK, in 1992.
He has at different times been Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, Director of Budget as well as coordinator of several programs and projects at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
At the State and national levels, he has been Member, Presidential Committee of Experts on Wage Fixing and Pay Relativity in the Nigerian Public Service (January to September, 2010), Chairman, New Nigerian Development Company (NNDC) for two terms (2006 & 2010), Member, Planning Committee on the Establishment of Kwara State University (2008); Member KWASU Implementation Committee (2009) and Member KWASU Governing Council, (2009 to date) just to mention a few.
