Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed lauds HHL for computer village
At the event, Governor Ahmed said the Computer Village would directly employ about six hundred youths when fully in operation, apart from the hundreds of indirect jobs that would be created in the process on its construction.
The governor noted that the computer village which is estimated to cost 500 million naira would be funded through contractor financing as well as pre-sales or off-taker arrangements.
Governor Ahmed promised that his government would continue to work with the network of investors, and other stakeholders to deepen the supporting infrastructure and ensure that quality standards are maintained across board with a view to accelerating the momentum of the ICT sector in the state.
He also assured that the government would continue to establish platforms for skills and entrepreneurship necessary for productively engaging the youths.
Governor Ahmed encouraged the people of the state to continue to support the present administration in its determination to transform the state into new brand of emerging economic environment attractive to investors.
“Countries around the world are competing to be the next technological innovations and the associated prosperity and Nigeria is not left out.
“The project also announces Kwara as a potential largest technological hub in Nigeria outside Lagos state.’’
Earlier,Board Chairman of Harmony Holdings Limited and Emir of Ilesha Baruba HRH Prof.Halidu Abubakar said HHL decided to build the computer village as it is needed for technogical advancement.
'In an age of booming technology, running a business without computers is like trying to breathe without lungs. Technology has become an integral part of the way business is done,'said Professor Abubakar.
He explained that the two storey complex is structured to cater for the interest of different classes of entrepreneurs.
'This structure has spaces to cater for specific needs of occupants and are made up showrooms, Anchor stores, Kiosks and Lock up stalls hosting a cluster of high-tech businesses (info techs, telecoms, electronics, etc.), and associated businesses,'he explainned.
The Group Managing Director of Harmony Holdings Tope Daramola commended the governor for performing the third ground breaking of the Hub francise at Fate Ilorin,Wuye Abuja and the computer village,this year.
